On Saturday, September 7th, the Pittsburgh Pirates hosted their annual cancer support game. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, September 6th, but rain moved it to the 7th.
Rain or shine, we love our Pittsburgh Pirates and can't thank them and Pirates Charities enough for all their support of Lending Hearts and everyone who battles cancer.
This game is very special as it also takes place during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This year, we had over 100 of our Lending Hearts Friends come to PNC Park to cheer on the Bucs and each other. 10 of our young friends were able to participate in Kids Take the Field. For our friend, Penelope, it was her first Pirates game, and she go to throw the opening pitch! That is one memorable first game experience!!
Lending Hearts also had the great honor and privilege of having our Executive Director, Vasso Paliouras, in the broadcasting booth during the game and sharing our mission and purpose.
Thank you to everyone who makes this such a special event each year!
