From Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh

Having the support of Lending Hearts is a positive step in assisting our patients and families in dealing with their journey. Focusing on the difficult aspects of cancer in a group setting at a time when things are overwhelming can be made easier when the families can lean on others that understand and share the concerns. Lending Hearts, with the support of CHP, will enable the patients and families to have the opportunity to meet with those facing these health-care challenges. As physicians we will be able to see the positive impact from this support in the emotional well-being of the patients we serve.

The benefit of having outside resources for these kids and their families is a huge void that can be filled by Lending Hearts. Working in conjunction with other support groups in the area, I am so happy to be involved in a group where we are going to be better able to reach those that previously may have been unreachable, providing a lending hand or listening ear in a group environment where they can feel like everyone else understands them. Showing the children that they are not alone in their fight can be such a positive influence and with Lending Hearts this can be possible.
